Glass repair

If you’re a PEMCO customer and need glass repair, we recommend you choose a glass shop in your area that’s certified by the National Glass Association – for example, Speedy, Safelight, and Novus.

Of course, you’re always free to choose any shop you want, and we can give you background on many of them. If you’re unsure and would like a recommendation, call us at 1-800-467-3626.

When you go to a recommended glass shop, the repair process should be fast and easy. The shop can determine your coverage and deductible (if any) online, and once the repairs are done, the shop will submit an online invoice to PEMCO. It’s that simple.

Glass-chip repair does not require a deductible. We encourage repair, which leaves the windshield (and its factory seal) intact, rather than glass replacement whenever possible.

In case of an auto accident

Safety first.

  • Stop.
  • Determine if there are any injuries.
  • Call 911 for help, if needed.
  • Move your car to the side of the road, if it is possible to do so safely.
  • Step away from traffic.

Limit statements.

  • Exchange insurance information.
  • Don’t discuss responsibility for the accident with anyone except the police.
  • Don't discuss policy limits with anyone.

Record the facts you can safely gather.

  • Date, time, and location of the accident
  • The names, addresses, and telephone numbers of registered owners, injured people, occupants of other cars, and witnesses
  • Description and license numbers of the other cars involved

Report the accident.

  • From a safe location, report the accident to the police.
  • Call PEMCO at 1-800-467-3626.  We’ll get the information you’ve collected and begin the claims process.

Your claims representative will walk you through the claims process.

Here’s an overview of the process:

First, we’ll confirm the coverages in effect at the time of the accident and explain how they apply in your situation.  If we’re unsure whether or not there’s coverage, our Claims Department will investigate further and keep you updated on the progress of the investigation.

Depending on the kind of claim, we’ll investigate who is responsible for causing the damages.  Some claims require thorough investigation to determine liability and will be sent to our Claims Department.

While every claim is different, we’ve established solid processes for evaluating the damages on a claim.  These processes might include our Timesaver Repair Program, reviewing a submitted estimate, or working with a contractor to get a bid for repairs.

Based on that evaluation, we’ll make payment under the provisions of your policy.  This may entail getting a release from someone who has a claim against you or may be as simple as paying the towing company’s bill.

If you’re hurt or your property is damaged as a result of someone else’s negligence and PEMCO makes a payment on your behalf, we’ll attempt to recover the money we’ve paid from the at-fault party.  This includes reimbursing you for your deductible from the first funds we recover.

In case of a home claim

Safety first.

  • Call 911 for help, if needed.

Report the claim

Protect your property from further damage

  • This might include securing a broken door after a burglary or covering up your property to keep the rain out if it is safe to do so.
  • Keep records of any expenses so that your adjuster can review them.

An adjuster will be in contact with you promptly to discuss your claim.  They will advise you on the claims process, verify the coverages that apply to the facts of the claim, and will work with you resolving the claim.

While PEMCO will gladly recommend quality contractors in your area (and guarantee the work of any contractor that we recommend to repair a covered loss), you’re always free to find contractors on your own.  Your adjuster will be there to guide you through the repair process and answer any questions you might have.

Remember that your PEMCO Homeowner’s policy does more than just repair or replace your home and property.  If your home is unsafe to occupy as a result of a covered loss, we’ll provide reimbursement for costs over and above your normal expenses that result from being temporarily displaced (such as restaurant meals or hotel expenses).

You can report a claim to PEMCO 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling 1-800-467-3626.
