In a recent survey, PEMCO’s benefits package ranked in the top 10% of benefits packages across Washington. We see benefits and rewards as an important way employees share in the success they help create.
These "Top 10" are part of the reason why 95% of our employees rank PEMCO’s overall benefits and rewards "better" or "much better" than those offered by other companies.
Here’s a closer look at the "Top 10."
1) 200% 401(k) match on up to 6% of pay. Watch your retirement savings grow with this generous company matching program. PEMCO matches you with $2 for every $1 you contribute up to 6% of your pay. You can choose among several mutual fund options through Fidelity Investments.
2) divi: PEMCO Reward Plan. PEMCO is a mutual insurance company, which means we’re owned by our policyholders, and our Reward Plan pays those who directly impact our customers’ experience – our employees! When PEMCO meets its companywide goals, you’ll share in its success. Eligible employees receive cash payouts that, depending on how many goals are met, range from 1% to 7% of their base pay during the plan year.
3) Health and welfare insurance. PEMCO pays a generous portion of your total premium for:
Medical and vision insurance. Choose between two Premera Blue Cross Plans and a Group Health HMO plan to cover you and your spouse, domestic partner, and children.
Dental insurance. Ensure your healthy smile with a superb plan through Washington Dental Service.
Life insurance and disability. PEMCO pays the premium for life insurance equal to two times your base pay rate (plus commission). We also offer additional short- and long-term disability coverage.
Long-term care insurance. You and your family can apply for and purchase long-term care insurance at a discounted group rate.
Employee assistance program. PEMCO makes this confidential program available to you and your eligible family members to help you balance work, life, and family issues.
4) Flexible spending accounts. Set aside pretax dollars to cover expenses for dependent care and healthcare expenses.
5) Education assistance. We have employees who complete their undergraduate and post-graduate degrees while working full-time at PEMCO. Besides providing many free onsite training opportunities, PEMCO reimburses most costs for successfully completed higher education courses that relate to a PEMCO role up to $5,250 per calendar year after your first year on the job.
6) Transportation subsidies. We offer a subsidized Orca Passport that can be used on eight transit agencies in the Puget Sound region. Or opt for vanpool, vanshare, and ferry subsidies to help you choose an alternative to driving. Included in the Orca Passport is the Home Free Guarantee that covers a taxi ride if, for example, you end up working late one night. If you drive, we charge you for parking at the Seattle office, but subsidize the cost. (Transportation subsidies are not available at all locations.)
7) Discounts. Employees who qualify for PEMCO Insurance get discounts on their auto, home, boat, umbrella, and life insurance. Employees can also take advantage of our buying power for their personal use! PEMCO employees get discounts from our vendors, including Dell, Magnolia Audio-Video, Sprint PCS, Verizon Wireless, Microsoft, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Sees Candies, Magnum Print Solutions (printer/toner products), and Business Telecom Products (BTP).
8) Wellness program. PEMCO employees are encouraged to participate in a variety of wellness programs and events including annual health risk assessments, biometric screenings, flu shot clinics, on-site Weight Watchers, yoga (Seattle and Lynnwood), on-site fitness rooms (Lynnwood and Spokane) and charitable wellness walks and runs. In addition, we offer YMCA corporate memberships at all PEMCO offices as well as a Free and Clear tobacco cessation program for employees, spouses, domestic partners and adult children under the age of 26.
9) Family perks. Get free peace-of-mind identity-theft protection for all members of your family. In addition, eligible employees’ children can apply for college scholarships through PEMCO Foundation, and eligible children receive a $30 "Birthday Gift" check from PEMCO on their special day until they’re 18.
10) Vacation, personal days, sick pay, paid holidays. You’ll accrue vacation and sick pay during each pay period. Accrued paid time off may be used after 90 days of employment. As a PEMCO employee, you may get several personal days; PEMCO observes five to six paid holidays in a typical year.
Most benefits start on the first day of the month following a full-time employee’s first 90 days of employment at PEMCO. Transportation subsidies start the first day of work. Children’s Birthday Gifts begin after an employee’s first year on the job. Paid-time-off options vary by hire date. Part-time employees qualify for some benefits, too.
