Two new ferries, seven possible names

Two new Puget Sound ferries will enter service in 2014 and 2015, and a state panel has narrowed their possible names to seven.
     The proposed names are: Cowlitz, Hoquiam, Ivar, Muckleshoot, Samish, Sammamish, and Tokitae. Ivar was suggested to honor Ivar Haglund, longtime Seattle restaurant owner who died in 1985. Tokitae is a killer whale captured in Whidbey Island’s Penn Cove in 1970, but she’s better known as Lolita at Miami Seaquarium, where she performs. Read the Longview Daily News article.
