Magnuson Community Center Beach Party: Say "Aloha" to Summer

Thursday, August 26, 2010by  WALLY Team

Most people know that the Hawaiian word "aloha" means both hello and goodbye. Here in Washington we could use that word to describe our summer because it seems to come and go as it pleases.

This Wednesday, Peter I and were fortunate enough to say hello to summer and the tropical 85-degree heat. The weather gave us a perfect opportunity to check out the Magnuson Community Center Beach Party at the Magnuson Park swim area. The shaded luau was awash with activities for children, including a hula-hoop contest, a search for buried pirate gold and a groovy limbo competition. When the weather cooperates, it's great to see Seattleites making the most of their summer.

Zach, a future NW Fly Fishing Junkie, gives it a go at the "Castaway" fishing activity. Zach and his mother, Ellen, are about to experience island living firsthand when they move to Vashon Island at the end of the week.

We say goodbye for now, but we have plenty of upcoming events on our schedule. Hopefully we'll see you this weekend at Qwest Field for GirlFest and the Sounders vs. Fire match. Aloha!
