Index hotel to recapture past grandeur

Friday, December 7, 2012by  Jon Osterberg

The town of Index soon will celebrate the reopening of the venerable Bush House hotel.
Built in 1898 to serve Great Northern Railroad passengers, it fell into disrepair and closed in 2001 with rotting floors, a leaky roof, and sagging doors and windows that wouldn’t close. But the 9,000-square foot, three-story building has a new owner who jacked it atop a new foundation and plans to renovate it for a June 2013 reopening.
