Used car 101: Life before phone-charging docks

Part of me hopes this story is made up, but another part of me isn’t surprised if it’s true.
A photo posted by a New York GMC dealership is going viral after being shared with this caption:
“So a young driver stops in with an older car complaining that the iPhone dock in his vehicle isn’t working and is scratching his phone.”
The photo shows the iPhone crammed into an in-dash cassette player and then taken out with scratches all over the screen.
Hmm. I guess the day has come where cassettes have gone the way of 8-track tapes, because the teen driver was attempting to “dock” his iPhone in a cassette tape slot.
Have teens these days ever encountered a cassette tape? I guess my generation was the last to enjoy the cassette-tape collection rolling around under the passenger seat and in the glove box. I’m not too proud to say I even have a few mix tapes rolling around in junk drawers at home (Stevie Nicks, anyone?), but I don’t know where I’d find a cassette deck to play them.
