More cars earn top safety award in 2015 tests

Wednesday, December 24, 2014by  Jon Osterberg
Drivers have more safe cars to choose from this year compared with 2014, based on crash-test results conducted by the nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
A whopping 71 cars earned either of IIHS's top two awards in 2015, up from 39 last year. And cars earning the top award increased by 11.
That's despite IIHS tightening its safety criteria in the past year.
Cars earning the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation include the Honda CR-V; Toyota Camry and Prius v; Subaru Impreza, Legacy, and Outback; Audi A3; and other top sellers.
Read the IIHS announcement and see the list of all 71 award-winners.
