After months of dry weather, fall has finally arrived in the Northwest. Love the rain or hate it, the best thing to do on a dark and stormy night is curl up with a great book. The PEMCO brand ambassadors live and breathe this northwest spirit so we headed down to Portland last weekend to check out the latest and greatest in the literary world for the annual Wordstock Festival.

Since 2005, the budding festival has blossomed into the largest celebration of reading and writing in the Pacific Northwest. Boasting everything from a titanic book fair to workshops for fledgling writers, there’s something for everyone of a literary bent at Wordstock. The festival even featured more than 195 authors excited to talk about their work with fans.

We made it out for the opening night event, Poets Slam Wordstock. Slam poetry is a sport and this sport’s equivalent of a Babe Ruth or Michael Jordan is two-time national poetry slam champ Anis Mojgani. Mojgani has been a member of several poetry slam teams in New Orleans, New York and Seattle. His epic stanzas opened Poets Slam Wordstock and numerous other poets brought their A-games to the stage.

We hope everyone stocked up on some good reads this weekend and we look forward to our next trip to Oregon this weekend. See you at the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta in Tualatin on Saturday!
