Spring District to emerge in Bellevue

Friday, November 14, 2014by  Jon Osterberg

Not long ago, news reports speculated that Bellevue’s Bel-Red corridor would become home to a new arena for the Seattle SuperSonics.
Now, the old Safeway distribution center is indeed being redeveloped. But it’s becoming an urban neighborhood called the Spring District, to be served by light rail.
Office and residential buildings as high as 12 stories are slated for the site between Bel-Red Road and SR 520, just east of I-405. Its footprint covers 36 acres. Developers plan to lure world-class tech employees there.
