Calling all canines! Join us at 2 Portland pet events

Wednesday, May 11, 2016by  Tayler Covington

Want to get a little exercise with your pup, snag a souvenir photo, and help end "petlessness" in the Portland area? Stop by and see our WALLY events team at two fun Oregon Humane Society events this month!

First up is the annual Doggie Dash on Saturday, May 14, at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Furry four-leggers and their human best friends will walk or run on car-free streets, then return to enjoy music, food, and pet-friendly festival activities such as a Frisbee clinic and a fashion show. There also will be contests such as the "Last Beggar Sitting," "Best Doggie Kiss" and "Silly Pet Trick." Your dog can even kick up his or her paws and get an animal massage (because let’s be honest, life can be ruff!). And don't forget to stop by and see us at the Doggie Dash Photo Booth to get a free souvenir pic.

We're also excited to see all the creative dog costumes at the annual Pug Crawl on Sunday, May 22. This year's theme is "Star Wars: The Pug Awakens," so we're hoping be treated to some awesome costumes in the Parade of Pugs. Dress your pug as Princess Leia, Rey, Kylo Ren, your favorite Jedi or villain – all costumes are welcome, and your pup might walk away with a special prize!
